Brass Core
Can any college admissions directors or anyone with knowledge about college admissions please help me?
Hey. I'm a junior from NJ. I need some blunt judgement about my admission chances please (my parents always say that I can do anything.. but with admissions getting harder, i want to know the real truth.)
GPA: around 3.8-3.9 unweighted.. 4.5-4.6 weighted
Course work: All honors core courses. Only one consistent elective (chorus) I took AP US in 10th grade and I got a 5. I'm currently talking AP English. And next year I will be taking AP Calc BC, Ap Stat, AP Euro. I've taken French consistently through highschool as well.
Extracurriculars: NHS, community service (i taught piano, theory and brass at a church), chorus (in school), church choir, church band, another choir outside of school, and another outside band that does mission trips, Academic Competition Team, French Club.
Testing: I haven't taken the SAT yet, but my PSAT scores were pretty good. I took the ACT today, and I think I did well.
Where should I be looking? (list only schools on east coast please and reasoning)
It seems like we have a lot in common, besides the fact that i'm in FL and taking spanish classes.
Tutoring is good, and playing an instrument is good, so I imagine teaching an instrument would be a great advantage in applying for college. I can't exactly say which colleges you should apply to, since I'm not familiar with the institutions up there, but I can suggest that you somehow try to work a sport into your schedule.
And thanks for your answer to my question about AP Stat v. AP Euro. I wouldn't hesitate to take both, but my schedule's full. check this thread:
