Here is a (IMO better) strip map I like to use for Vegas.

...as you can see Circus Circus is quite far from Luxor.
You will pretty much pass every single one (except for the Mandalay to get there). Here's a quick and CHEAP way to get from Luxor to Circus Circus and vice versa...other than Taxi of course...because walking it...will take you easily 30-45 minutes..maybe more. (I know because I'm a speed walker, and I walked from Tropicana to Circus Circus and it took me about 30 minutes..why I didn't take the monorail I have no idea).
Take the monorail to/from MGM station to Riviera Hotel station. Between MGM and Luxor..there's a tram that goes from Excalibur to Luxor (and Mandalay Bay). There is a bit of walking still involved. But the tram between Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay is free, and the Monorail passes are I think $9 a day..So that should save you a lot of money (compared to taxi) and time...if you're only going to do this excursion once or twice. Taxi cab shouldn't cost you much more (as long as they take you through the back route and not on the strip).
If you have oodles of time...the walk isn't that bad..you'll get to stop at pretty much every casino....but again..it depends on how much time you have..if it's just a day thing to check out everything...go for it!
