Why do some people freak out over pocketknives?

Im not talking about in a school setting.
I have owned a pocketknife since I was 12. My brother is an Eagle scout and has a nice one. My father has one engraved. Even my mom has a hot pink one. SO my question is...why are people afraid or tense when they see one on a key-chain? Its not a switch blade. Its maybe 4in? Is this just a thing where anti-gun or northern people get upset because they are not used to them? They're quite handy, and come with all sorts of gadgets. What do yall think?

Because we live in a nation of wussbags. I wear a really nice assist to open Kershaw on my pocket for all the honest world to see and people freak out all of the time because they don't understand what you and I know. A pocket knife, handkerchief, wallet and small caliber handgun concealed in my boot, this is stuff a guy can use. Of course where I live its sort of a necessity to have those items lest you become the robbery victim of a guy with an Oakland Raiders tattoo on his face. It used to be the absolute norm for a man to always carry a pocket knife and anybody who didn't was a bum. I'm so glad that a lady like you appreciates the need for a little cold steel.
