I am so reserved that it is killing my friendship with someone?
I am a reserved person but not by choice. I admit there are times where the conversation can be more one-sided than give and take. I don't deny this and I don't like it, but it is not intentional.
I have a close friend who is upset with me primarily because of this. I try and be open with her but it is hard for me to do, mostly because of past things that happened to me. She tries but gets upset with me because it is hard to talk about myself, even answering basic q's.
I say to her I am not perfect and I have my share of faults. I want to be more open and get better communicating with her. But she gets SO stressed out with me, which hurts, that I feel like I can't do anything right for her.
Yesterday she stood up and left because she got frustrated. I am so hurt. What can be done? She said we were going to talk this afternoon but then she never showed up.
You don't have to be open about everything. Sometimes it's best to keep private private. If she's a true friend, she will come back. If not, you will find a better friend who will understand.
