can a body shop legally keep my car if i owe money?
ok. i toke my car to a local body shop.. while working on it they caught the interior on fire.. i got and insurance check and bought new interior and they said they would fix the car... so they fixed the car and now they want 2700 more dollars to cover the labor..i have tried to get in touch of the owner for over a week he wont call me back..I found out that he moved my car from the shop to a different location and i have no clue where my car is.. does he have the legal right to keep my car if i owe him money.. this is in new york state by the way thank you
i did get a check from there insurance company not mine
This looks like a lawyer's job, very sorry to hear of this stuff happening, i mean such an obvious case, I hope they get shut down and you solve it quickly!
