I am having some issues with playing slot machines any advice on how to stop thinking about gambling?
the slots have been in my state for 18 months and I cant stop going .
This isn't specific to gambling, but let me relay a story I had in my relationship with money. I used to be a spendthrift, living on borrowed money, credit cards, etc.
One day I wised up and realized that the stuff I bought didn't really buy me more then momentary happiness. I would enjoy whatever it was for a few days, and then it would sit in a drawer with the other crap I had bought. I realized that the debt it brought lasted a whole lot longer then the fleeting happiness of that stuff.
You need to make a similar mental shift. Recognize that slot machines bring you only fleeting happiness. The moment you walk away, your happiness ends. However the money you lose will only bring you lasting aggravation.
Find whatever it is that will bring you lasting contentment and happiness. It could be financial security, spending time with loved ones, taking up a hobby, or just saving the money you would otherwise waste for a great trip somewhere.
