Chip Button

Can the left button from a laptop be replaced?

And the right one also? (I'm talking about the buttons that click things on the screen, not the keypad - I don't know what they're called. "Left click and right click"). The paint is kind of chipping off and it bothers me sometimes so I was thinking if the two buttons can be replaced...
And if it can, how much does it cost? The button, and the process of putting it on.
Can the buttons be damaged if I use them too much? Like constantly pressing them?

Yeah, they can be replaced. Pretty straightforward job for a computer shop, not that difficult. Obtaining the parts can be a pain, though, would most likely have to come from the company that made the laptop originally and may or may not be in stock depending on how old your machine is. If available, probably only $5-10, but tech/labor could be expensive. Most shops have a minimum charge for such things, and any time you have to open up a laptop case (other than to replace the items accessible through ports on the bottom of the machine) you're probably looking at somewhere around a hundred bucks.

The answer to the second part of your question is "yes". If you constantly bang on *anything* you'll tend to wear it out. :-)
