where can i buy a weighted vest for my dog for walking off weight,whilst building up a little muscle?
he is getting overweight and needs exercise,and the vet suggested getting a vest that has slip pockets that little weights can be added or a sand weighted vest for him,does anyone know of a stockist in australia,i have googled to no end,but can't seem to find what i am looking for...thanks..
Look for dog backpacks, most you can buy online.
Start out slow though, with no weights at first, then small weight evenly balanced on both sides. You can increase the weight gradually over weeks, but no more than 25% of his body weight tops is safe to carry. Short walks at first, check where the straps are on his body to look for signs of chafing and irritation. You might need to adjust the straps, or put some moleskin on the inside to stop the chafing.
